Environmental Drilling
We maintain drilling teams specially trained to work on hazardous waste sites and groundwater contamination projects. From initial site assessment to the implementation of remediation, services include: borehole geophysics; investigative drilling; well logging; monitoring wells; recovery wells; and maintenance of groundwater recovery systems. Our large equipment inventory supports most drilling methods, sampling techniques, well depths and diameters.

Safety |
| |
Safety is an integral part of VIDHAN HYDRO ‘s management structure. A dedicated Safety and Environmental Health Sciences Division directs programs to keep all field personnel trained in current safety practices. All drilling crews are OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste trained with current 8-hour and supervisor updates, which include annual medical monitoring. In addition to the PRD training, crews are well trained. Forklift and crane certification is standard for all VIDHAN HYDRO field employees. |

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS After every request for a deep well or for a water supply scheme, our panel of experts on the environment, evaluate the possible impacts due to extraction of groundwater and submit proposals to minimize them and also take action to educate and make the residents aware of the actualities of the project. |
HYDROGEOLOGICAL SURVEYS
VHLteam will initially compile all the available information on the area of interest. The aerial photographs covering the land under development will be studied along with the 1:50,000 topographical maps in order to assess the water resources of the area. On the field, the VHL team will select few sites for detailed geophysical survey on the Client’s preferences. Two Vertical Electrical Soundings (VES) and an Electro Magnetic Survey (EMS) at each of pre-selected points will be carried out. The data collected from each location will be analysed in the laboratory. The equipment used in geophysical survey are listed below. |

Geotechnical Construction
To stabilize soils for construction, VIDHAN HYDRO services include artificial ground freezing, chemical grouting, compaction grouting, construction drilling, drilled micr piles, jet grouting, permeation grouting, post-tensioned rock and soil anchors, vibratory ground improvement and stone columns. Vibratory ground improvement and jet grouting are ideal for increasing the load bearing soil characteristics needed for civil construction projects. Artificial ground freezing is used for groundwater control and excavation support in water-bearing soils.

The Chairman of the Company has designed drinking water treatment plants for hand pump fitted wells and production wells in many parts of the Island. Few of them are Iron and Manganese removing filters in the Kandy district and fluoride removing filters in the dry zone of Sri Lanka.He has also designed water treatment plants for most of the water bottling plants in Sri Lanka. Some of them are Windmill, Crystal, Silversprings, Tropical, Dan Cool Blue, GK Water, Virgin, Deep, Sogo etc..
He was also involved in design and construction of the waste water treatment plant currently in operation at the New Zealand Dairy packing plant at Biyagama and the Metal Finishing plant of Metalix Engineering Co. Ltd at Watareka.
He has also installed drinking water softening plants at the Rajarata Universty at Mihinthale, STF Camp at Ampara and a rural center at Galle.
VHL has selected part-time consultants from Universities and other professional bodies to cover a vast range of disciplines. It als has access to the latest technology available in the respective disciplines |
